Obituary of Horace Lavelle "Louie" Barton

Funeral services for Mr. Horace Lavelle "Louie" Barton, age 67, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Stuckey officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Barton, a roofer and custodian, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015. He was a member of East Haven Church of God and the American Legion. Mr. Barton loved his children and grandchildren and could make everyone smile. He retired from the Morehouse Parish School board and had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, and listening to Freddie Fender. He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Barton and Penny McGurk; sister, Sandra Kay Barton; brothers, Douglas Wayne Barton and Rickey Lee Barton and wife Amanda; grandchildren, Raigan Malone, Dwayne Malone, Cody McGurk, Dalton McGurk, and Caleb McGurk; great grandchildren, McKenley Joy Malone and expecting one on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Barton is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Louis Barton and Faye Evelyn Barton; brother, Charles "Squally" Barton; nephew, Pete Barton; sons, Horace Lavelle Barton, Jr. and Bobby Wayne Barton. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Allen Barton, Dwayne Malone, Danny Bennett, Jake Barton, Will Barton, Jessie Harris, Trey Wright, and Hunter Barton. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Adams, Ronnie Barton, David Hogan, and Daren McCall.
