Funeral services for Mr. John W. Montgomery, age 73, of Bastrop are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, January 23, 2016 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Myrick and Bro. Tim Post officiating. Mr. Montgomery, a retired Millwright from International Paper Company, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his residence. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. Mr. Montgomery adored his grandchildren. He loved guns and spending time in his shop visiting with those who came by. Mr. Montgomery also served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. John "Mary" Montgomery; son, John Montgomery, Jr. and fiancee' B.J.; sisters, Shirlee Porter, Esther Woodall Bacle; grandchildren, Randal Montgomery, Camryn Montgomery and a host of special friends. Mr. Montgomery is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Belvy Marie Montgomery; daughter, Wanda Kay Montgomery and two infant sons. Pallbearers will be; Ralph Jones, Scott Bulloch, Cory Gerald, Matt Lyons, Jeremy Defee, and Charles Lowery. Honorary pallbearers are; Jimmy Smith and Mitchell Prince. Visitation will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
