Funeral services for Ola Mae Pickett Morgan, 94, will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Golden Funeral Home with Reverend Todd Wooden officiating. Interment will be at the Pickett Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:30 at Golden Funeral Home. Ola Mae, a homemaker, passed away Wednesday, March 9. She was born at her family home on Hwy. 139 in Morehouse Parish on September 26, 1921. She was an active life-long member of New Friendship Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Society. Ola Mae enjoyed playing bingo, reading, cooking, and visiting with her friends. She was known for her chocolate cake with white icing and her embroidery work. Ola Mae was preceded in death by her parents, John Harvey Pickett and Katie Dodd Pickett; her two sisters, Johnnie Messenger Ramsey and Pauline Pickett James; her one brother, Dennis Pickett; and her son, James Austin Morgan, Jr. Ola Mae is survived by her sons John Morgan and wife Margaret of LaQuinta, CA and Jack Morgan of Monroe; her daughter-in-law Sandra Morgan of Collinston; grandchildren Mark Morgan and wife Nichol of New Bloomfield, PA, Jennifer Chunn and husband Ronald of Monroe, John David Morgan and wife Veronica of Los Angeles, CA, Meredith Morgan of Dallas, TX, and Jeffrey Morgan of Monroe; and great-grandchildren Brook Shoop, Emily Morgan, Kane Chunn and Sawyer Morgan, and her special niece, Dottie Kay Messinger Fair and husband Eddie and two nephews Larry James and wife Diane and Paul James and wife Dianne. The family would like to thank Dr. Cox, Mr. O.L. Harper, Pat McIntyre, STAT Home Health, Linda Haynes, Whit’s Pharmacy, The Assisted Living Home and friends she made there. The family would like to especially thank her niece Dottie for all the care, devotion and love she gave to her Aunt Ola Mae especially during these last few years. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Pickett Family Cemetery or New Friendship Baptist Church.
