Mr. Croswell was born in Crossett, AR to John and Verla Croswell, on June 10, 1944. He never outgrew his love for people, horses, the outdoors and hard work. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was 13 years old. He graduated from Bastrop High School, excelling in basketball and football. While working at International Paper Company as a millwright, and using a $300 profit from selling a horse, he began his selling and trading career from his backyard, selling tractors and farm equipment. Then, later he purchased land, and in 1976 established John Croswell Equipment Sales. In 2000 he established John Croswell Trailer Sales, followed by Croswell's Tack and Western Wear in 2012. He always loved work because he said it was still fun.
He leaves behind a family, co-workers, business associates, and friends too numerous to name, that he truly loved and who truly loved him. He will be missed.
Mr. Croswell is preceded in death by his parents, John William and Verla Croswell; brothers, Charles and Bill Croswell.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynda Croswell; children, Caron Croswell Johnson and husband Jay and children Anna Beth and Sarah; John Croswell, Jr. and wife Angie, and children Cody, Dusty and Hannah Andrews; sisters-in-law, Helga Croswell of Sherwood, Oregon and Ann Croswell of Lakeland, Florida; nieces and nephews, Monica Kessler and husband A.J. and family, Bill Croswell, Jr. and wife Irene and family, Jaime Smith and family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Alexander, Dustin Jordan, Charles Ray, Britt Dupree, Scotty Townsend, and Phillip McCready. Honorary pallbearers will be David Coleman, Clifford Jordan, Parker Jordan, Percy Rogers, and Robert Sanders.
John had a big heart and a love for people. He also had a love for Central Missionary Baptist Church, and the work that is being accomplished in the Philippines with the establishment of churches on Balut Island and Tagum City, Philippines. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances on his behalf be given for this important work to Central Missionary Baptist Church 1231 Leavell St., Bastrop, LA 71220.
