Funeral service for Mary Christine Hern McLean Wise of Bastrop, LA, will be held Sunday, October 9,2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Golden's Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Rhymes will be officiating, with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday. Christine was born November 19, 1923, and passed away October 6, 2016.
Visits from family and friends were one of the main highlights of her days. Her quiet, prayerful nature coupled with her courage and perseverance endeared her to loved ones. She will be genuinely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is finally at rest with our Lord Jesus. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, which she loved very much. Christine served as a faithful pastor's wife for many years teaching, singing, and witnessing to anyone.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Leonard McLean and Eugene Wise; parents, Clyde and Carrie Hern; sisters, Virginia Brodnax, Lola Siren, and Jean Motherspaugh; and brother, Don Hern.
She is survived by her brother, Clyde Hern and wife Eula; daughters, Barbara Moore and husband James, Marsha McIntyre and husband Kary, and son, Edwin McLean and wife Elise. Grandchildren, Alan McIntyre and wife Dorla, Len Verrett and wife Jana, Kimberly Johnston, Michael McIntyre and wife Renee, and Sophia Szentes. Great grandchildren are Christian Johnston, Robert Verrett, Christopher Verrett, Eric McIntyre, Jason McIntyre, Alex McIntyre, and Connor McIntyre. Stepdaughters are Shelia Ruffin and husband Hurshel and Susan Barringer and husband Mike. Step-grandchildren, Brooke Burgard and husband Brian, Josh Barringer, and Amber Welch and husband Jeff. Step-great grandchildren are Jordan Hemphill and Jase Welch and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Alan McIntyre, Len Verrett, Michael McIntyre, Mike Barringer, Eric McIntyre, and Arthur Merrell. Honorary pallbearers are Hurshel Ruffin and Deacons at Oak Hill Baptist Church.
