I have had the opportunity to meet few men in my life who I would categorize as great. Lynn Townsend was one of those men.
He was the dearest kindest man that I believe I have ever met. There was no doubt to anyone who knew him that he was real, honest and that he loved his LORD. In Numbers 11 GOD assembled 70 elders from Israel and imparted upon them "from the spirit of Moses". I Believe that GOD has placed in my life men like Bro. Lynn and others so that their spirit might touch my ministry. I will be forever grateful for that blessing.

Bro. Lynn Townsend was my 1st Pastor; 65 years ago, pastoring Bonita Road Baptist Church, Bastrop, La. He and Mrs. Bobby were like family to ours, along with their children. I ran into them again after Edward and had married, performing a wedding for good friends at Victory Baptist, Monroe, La. Again, some 15 years ago he filled in at Pleasant Hill Baptist, north of West Monroe, La. I didn't know he was coming. I was asked to sing that Sunday. It was usual for me to share Scriptire before singing. I sat beside Mrs. Bobby, so proud; and we laughed as he announced I had read the Scripture for his message. I learned early in life from the best how the Spirit leads. I will always cherish my memories of you and your family.

I love this man. He was my pastor as a young girl. I loved his wife too and his whole family had such an impact on my life and my family's life.
May our Lord pour out peace that passes all understanding on the family and friends at this time.
With Loving memories,
Betty Ruth
