I am saddened by the loss of your mother, Joan, and send love and prayers of comfort to her children and family at this difficult time. Joan was a dear friend and cousin and a beautiful person. She had a kind and gentle nature; and an unforgettable and contagious, beaming smile. She made everyone feel better just being around her. And, although she patiently showed me many times how to make her famous chicken and dumplings, none will ever taste like hers.
