Obituary of Toni Lynn Parks Brakefield
Funeral services for Mrs. Toni Brakefield, age 68, will be held at 2 PM Monday, May 22, 2017, at Bonita Road Baptist Church with Bro. Casey Johnson and Bro. Todd Wooden officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Brakefield, a resident of Bastrop, LA passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, in Houston, TX surrounded by her loving family and devoted friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Jean McLeod Parks and her father Lester Stephen Parks.
Toni was a 1966 graduate of Bastrop High School. After completing her studies at Cloyd’s School of Beauty, she became an instructor of cosmetology at Bastrop Beauty School. She was owner and operator of Shear Designs by Toni, located in Harp Salon.
She was a long time member of Bonita Road Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in activities of the church. She was steadfast in her devotion to God and cherished her church and her church family.
She always strived to be her best in everything she did. Known as “the lady with the list,” she was super organized and dependable and expected no less from others. From the beautiful flowers and plants that she loved tending and sharing in her garden, to the delicious holiday meals she planned and prepared for her family and friends, to the magic transformations she performed for her clients in her salon, she strived for perfection.
Toni was a true Christian, a devoted mother and grandmother, a faithful friend to many; and a woman of genuine compassion, who will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Brakefield is survived by her children, Lester David Brakefield and wife Ladonna, Dana Spigner and husband Darby, Todd Wayne Brakefield and wife Becky; brothers Jerry Wayne Parks and wife Gwen, Stephen Parks; grandchildren, Michelle Brakefield, Chelsea Hodges, Mandy Spigner, Brooke Brakefield, Brylee Brakefield, John David Brakefield; great grandchildren, C.J. Barrett, Justin Barrett, Jacie Dykes; the father of her children, Michael Brakefield; and special friends, Diane and Mike Stephens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Freeland, Scott Diel, Kevin Hobby, Thomas Farrar, Roger Jones, and Danny Deblieux. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Bonita Road Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 4 PM Sunday at Golden Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bonita Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 7204 Pine Grove Loop Rd., Bastrop, LA or New Friendship Baptist Church building Fund, 6329 Old Monroe Road, Bastrop, LA.
