Obituary of Pamela Stephenson Oliver
Pamela Stephenson Oliver, 70, of Ruston, LA formerly of Denver, CO and Bastrop, LA passed away July 16, 2017 in the comfort of her home.
Visitation for the public will be held at the Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop on July 20, 2017 from 9:00 – 10:30 am. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am with Reverend Richard Gambill officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
When she was age 4, A.E. Stephenson Sr. and Edith Stephenson lovingly adopted Pamela. History tells the story that a stick of double-mint chewing gum presented to her brother Emmet Stephenson, Jr. was all it took to seal a lifelong bond. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, as an organist and choir member. Pamela attended Bastrop High School, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the cornet for the school band before graduating in 1965. She attended Centenary College in Shreveport, LA where she was a member of the Centenary Choir. Pamela worked as an accountant for Stephenson and Co. of Denver, Colorado for 12 years. She was an extremely hard working, devoted and trusted employee for her brother.
However, Pamela’s real career and lifelong ambition was to be a loving and caring mother to her four children. She had the distinction of being one of the most devoted caretakers, chef, teacher, cheerleader, disciplinarian, leader, and proud supporter of her children. Primarily a single parent, she worked tirelessly to provide for her children, attended countless functions and activities, and instilled exemplary morals and values within each child. She considered motherhood to be her greatest blessing and accomplishment.
Pamela had a passion for sports, music and the arts. She relished the opportunity to watch her beloved Denver Broncos and LSU Tigers. She loved to sing gospel songs with the church choir and was accomplished at playing the piano. She was fond of painting, needlepoint, reading and creating artistic artifacts for her home.
Her parents A.E. Stephenson, Sr. and Edith Stephenson, preceded Pamela in death.
She is survived by her brother Emmet Stephenson, Jr. and his wife Toni Stephenson of Nevada; sons Cage Godlewski, Todd Godlewski, Chadwick Godlewski and his wife Robin Godlewski, and daughter Cara Godlewski; niece Tessa Stephenson Brand; five grandchildren Brittany Clark, Payton Godlewski, Cooper Godlewski, Anderson Godlewski, Caleb Hairhoger and Braylon Hairhoger; and great-granddaughter Sutton Clark.
Flowers may be delivered to the Golden Funeral Home, 2016 E. Madison Avenue, Bastrop, LA 71220.
In Loving Memory
