Obituary of Raymond Arthur Cheek

Funeral services for Mr. Raymond Arthur Cheek are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 18, 2018, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home. Bro. Justin Akers will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. service time Thursday.

Mr. Cheek, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, at the age of 74. He retired from Georgia Pacific where he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of the Upper Room Ministries. Mr. Cheek was an avid fisherman who loved his Lord, his church, and his family dearly. He also enjoyed raising cattle and horses.

Mr. Cheek is survived by his wife, Brenda Cheek; sons, Raymond T. Cheek and wife Cynthia G. of Farmerville, LA, Bradley S. Cheek and wife Tally M. Hughes of Bastrop, LA, Greg Cheek and wife Misty of Bastrop, LA; sister, Juanita McLeod of Bastrop, LA; brother, Bobby Joe Cheek of Bastrop, LA; nine grandchildren, Lindsay and husband Carl Long, Jacob and wife Brittany Cheek, Stephanie Cheek, Joseph Cheek, Sarah Cheek, Hunter Cheek, Drake Daniels, Fisher Daniels, and Kennedy Daniels; four great grandchildren, Marley Hood, Spencer Long, Jaycee Cheek and Rhuby Powell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lillie Cheek; sisters, Helen Malloy and Sissy Porter; brothers, Bubba Cheek and Harry Cheek.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Cheek, Jacob Cheek, Carl Long, Scott Diel, Tim Diel and Chris McDonald. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Chain, Steve Lowery, Fisher Daniels, Jim Goleman and Kenneth Pinkard.
