Obituary of Jean Tyson Pennington

Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Tyson Pennington, age 95, of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Dr. Vic Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Red Wing Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pennington passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Pennington loved reading, quilting and talking about her grandchildren. She had a kind spirit.

Mrs. Pennington is survived by her daughters: Minnie Coker of Bastrop, LA; Elizabeth Willis of MerRouge, LA; Margaret Sanchez and husband, James of Cabot, AR; Paulette Odom and husband, Don of Bastrop, LA; son, Lester “Buddy” Gilliam and wife, Cindy of Bastrop, LA; step children, Bill Pennington and wife, Linda of TX, Martha Floyd of TX, Brenda Pennington of TX; brother, Jack Tyson of Robertsdale, AL; twenty-two grandchildren, fifty-eight great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Freeman Pennington; two daughters, Donna Jean Gilliam Green, Renee Gilliam Hunt; one grandaughter, three great grandsons, one great granddaughter and ten siblings.

Serving as pallbearers are: Michael Green, Allen Coker, Timothy Coker, Chuck Willis, William Willis, Brennan Leonard, Joseph Robinson and Dow Young III.
