Obituary of John Will Sims

Funeral services for Mr. John Will “Buddy” Sims are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Danny Merriweather officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bonne Idee Cemetery.   Mr. Sims, a retiree of International Paper Company, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Oakwoods Home for the Elderly, at the age of eighty-one.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the 2:00 PM time of service.

Mr. Sims was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Hamburg, Arkansas.  He enjoyed sipping cowboy “boiled” coffee in front of a fire 365 days of the year.  He loved watching westerns and loved the outdoors, horses, raising hogs, and hog hunting.

He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Sims, and his mother, Johnnie McDaniel Worley.

Mr. Sims is survived by his daughters, Vanessa Johnson and husband, Eddie, of Sterlington, LA and Elizabeth Wright and husband Glenn, of Sterlington, LA; son, John Tracy “Chuck” Sims and wife, Kimberly, of Leslie, AR; sisters, Dorothy Christian and husband, Chris, of West Monroe, LA and Sharon Clark and husband, Brett, of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Brooks Johnson, John Laing, Lauren Wright, SaVanna Shoemaker, Allie Sims, and Cole Johnson; as well as six great-grandchildren.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Brooks Johnson, John Laing, Caden Johnson, Eddie Johnson, and Glenn Wright.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Carter Cox and the staff of Oakwoods for their care and compassion.
