I can't believe that Mrs. Shoemaker passed. I was one of her students at Eastside elementary she was a wonderful teacher! I will surely be praying for the family.

Many years has past since Rhetha Ann and I attended Bastrop High School together. After graduation we each went our separate ways. I was so sorry to read of her passing, but overjoyed with the showing of her life. I so remember her as a very friendly school friend, always with a sweet smile for everyone. Her achievements upon losing her husband at a young age, raising 2 precious children, and completing her education to teach in the home school system is to be commended! I pray that her children will dwell on the special memories they have of her, and our Lord will give them comfort and peace. Fond memories, Virginia Young Currey

As a former student of Mrs. Shoemaker, I'd like to extend my deepest condolences to the family. Second grade was a special time for me at Eastside Elementary, and it was in large part to Mrs. Shoemaker. I remember her saying, "My name is Mrs. Shoemaker, but I don't make shoes!" I have special memories of her sitting in front of the class reading stories to us. Warm and gentle is how I will always remember her. Thank you, Mrs. Shoemaker, for your sweet spirit!

Aunt Retha Ann was such a beautiful, kind, and loving woman. She was always so gentle and sweet. She was what my Father called one of his best friends and so dearly loved by my Mom and I as well. I will miss her. The loss of your Mom I know is so devastating. But, I do know time will help heal your broken hearts. Love you my Cousins - so very much.

Brian, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. The angels are rejoicing in her presence. There are many students that passed thru the halls at East Side that thought a lot of her. Such a sweet lady. Just know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
