Graveside funeral services for Mr. William Wyatt "Bud" Smith are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 21, 2019 in Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Casey Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 20, 2019, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Golden Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith, a resident of Bastrop, LA and member of Bonita Road Baptist Church, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the age of 85. He retired as Captain from the Bastrop Police Department where he then went to work as the Security Director for Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, LA. He later served as Chief Deputy of the Ashley County Sheriff’s Office for eight years. Mr. Smith was a member of several organizations including the Morehouse Parish Riding Club, Toler-White Hunting Club, and served as President of the Water Commission in Log Cabin, LA. He was also a founding member of the ArkaLa Play Day Association. Mr. Smith loved to hunt and in his younger days he loved to ride and train horses.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Little and husband Archie of Bastrop, LA; son, Shane Smith and wife Carmen of Hamburg, AR; sister, Clara Frances Coleman and husband William; grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Tristan Thompson and husband Hunter, Genea Little, and Cara Ladd and husband David; great grandchildren, Trevor Smith, Daxe Smith, Dawson, Daityn, and Dax Ladd.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife, Faye Smith; grandson, Ty Smith; sisters, Ruth McKoin, Lucille Cooper, and Mildred Smith; brother, Lloyd Smith.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hughes, Steve Courson, Doyle Murphy, Danny Courson, Terry Halley, and Greg Halley.
