Obituary of Emma Lou Buffington
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Lou Porter Buffington are scheduled for 4 PM, Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Pine Grove Baptist Church, with Bro. James Moffett and Bro. Todd Mattice officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery. A time of visitation will precede the service, from 2 - 4 PM.
Mrs, Buffington, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the age of ninety-one. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church since she was a young woman. She was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a retired nurses aid at Cherry Ridge Guest Care for nineteen years and did private duty sitting. She enjoyed writing poetry.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Foster Porter; husband, Clarence Buffington; sisters, Sybil Angle, Azeal Musgrove, Opal Franks, and Lena Porter; brothers, Gabe Porter, Owens Porter, D.C. Porter, and Robert Earl Porter; great-grandson, Peyton Malone; niece, Alice Faye Barron; and two nephews, that she raised as her own, Tommy Buffington and Jerry Buffington.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary "Jenny" Malone, and husband Ed; son, Guy Royce Buffington, and wife Teresa; grandchildren, Robby Buffington, and wife Angie, Regina Malone, Steven Malone, Shane Malone, and wife Stacey, Paul Buffington, and wife Jennifer, and Brian Malone, and wife Amanda; eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandson, Paul Buffington, Robby Buffington, Shane Malone, Steven Malone, Brian Malone, and Justin Malone.
