Obituary of Wilma Jean McElfresh Lucas

Funeral services for Wilma Jean McElfresh Lucas are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 12, 2019, at Lake St. John Community Baptist Church in Ferriday, LA, with Rev. Mark Richardson officiating. Graveside services will be held at Earnest Cemetery in Hampton, AR, at 4:00 P.M. Friday under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 11, 2019, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, LA.

Mrs. Lucas, a member of Lake St. John Community Baptist Church, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at the age of eighty. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Bastrop Rotary. Mrs. Lucas lived in Bastrop, LA, for forty-six years and worked hand in hand with her husband at the Lucas Chiropractic Clinic. Some of her favorite pastimes were drawing, gardening, reading, being outdoors, and being near the water. Mrs. Lucas also loved going to eat at the Duck’s nest with her favorite son-in-law, Kenny.

She is survived by her children, Donald Lucas of Bastrop, LA, and Brenda Lucas Naff and husband Ken of Ferriday, LA; sister, Maxine Wilson of Camden, AR; grandchildren, Lance Lucas and wife Arish of Bastrop, LA, Candie Moore and husband James of Monroe, LA, Jeana Spring and husband Cory of Lafayette, LA, Lucas Naff and wife Elisabeth of Vancleave, MS; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and loving caregiver, Tina Gaston.

Mrs. Lucas is preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Doc” Lucas; parents, Thomas and Margaret McElfresh; brothers, James McElfresh and Charles McElfresh; and sister, Marie Phillips.
   
Serving as pallbearers will be Lance Lucas, Jeremy Lucas, Caleb Lucas, Landonn Lucas, Lucas Naff, and Cory Spring.
