Obituary of Wanda T. Lawrence
Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda T. Lawrence, age 73, are scheduled for 10 AM Monday, August 19, 2019 at Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Trent Allen and Bro. Doug Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9 AM until 10 AM prior to the service.
Mrs. Lawrence, a retiree of Bastrop National Bank with over thirty years of service, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 after a lengthy illness. She was a member of Tillou Baptist Church and after her retirement from Bastrop National Bank, worked for Northeast Louisiana Power Cooperative and later for Ouachita Independent Bank in Bastrop. She enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, traveling and sewing. She was a loving mother and sister who loved her family and friends dearly. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone, and was loved by all who knew her. She proved to all she could accomplish any feat before her especially if she was told she could not.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Lawrence; brothers, J.O. Thornton III and wife Barbara of Lake Providence, LA, Russell Thornton and wife Paula of Alsatia, LA, David Thornton of Alsatia, LA; sisters, Jimmie Sue Thornton of West Monroe, LA, Kathy Allen and husband David of Oak Grove, LA; sister-in-law, Ruth Tull and husband Bernie of Shreveport, LA; special friends, Hollie, Karlie and Drew Brasseaux; special friend, Myra White; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her special and faithful companion, Rebel.
Mrs. Lawrence is preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Lawrence; infant daughter, Belinda Lawrence; parents, J.O. Jr., and Christine Thornton; mother-in-love, Lavon Lawrence; father-in-love, Claude Lawrence; her grandparents, great grandparents and her special companion Marty.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rusty Thornton, Andy Allen, Alex Nelson, David Thornton, Dee Tull and Richard Tull. Honorary pallbearers will be, James Thornton IV, Ethan Allen, Jeffrey Thornton, Tommy Tull, Jase Thornton, Michael David Thornton, Drew Brasseaux, Kade Johnston and Cole Johnston.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Haven Health and the Ouachita Healthcare and Rehab Facilities for their love and care for Wanda.
