Obituary of Donzie Anderson Conner

Funeral services for Mrs. Donzie Anderson Conner are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, November 18, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Huttig, AR, with Bro. Todd Gunter officiating.  Interment will follow in Harper Springs Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home of Bastrop.  A time of visitation will precede the service beginning at 12:00 noon.

Donzie Anderson Conner was born on February 17, 1931 in Batesville, Arkansas. She met the love of her life during her years at college. Donzie married John Conner, a young forester. They went on to raise six children; three boys and three girls. She joined him in their forever home on November 14, 2019. She taught kindergarten (and lower grades) for 40 plus years. She taught Children’s Church for just as long. Donzie loved gardening and her greenhouse almost as much as teaching kindergarten. She touched the lives of many, many children whom she loved equally, no matter the color or background.

Donzie is preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Conner and her mother and father, Claude and Myrl Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas.

Survivors include her children, Elaine Bright and husband Randy of El Dorado, Arkansas, Michael Conner and wife Kayla of Helena, Montana, Paul Conner of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Emily Smith, and husband Kenneth, of Monroe, Louisiana, Mark Conner, of Huttig, AR, and Amy Blevins, and husband, Nathan, of Bastrop, Louisiana; grandchildren, Joshua Bright, Drew Conner, Letty Conner, Matthew Smith, Patrick Smith, Kelly Conner Matthews, Tyler Conner, Kassy Conner Smith, Conner Blevins, and Caitlon Blevins; four great-grandchildren, and another due in December; and brother, Shelby Anderson and wife Joyce and their two daughters, Shelly and Janet.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Harper Springs Cemetery, in care of Marion State Bank, 345 Main Street, Marion, LA 71260.
