Obituary of Shirley Tackett Goodman

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Tackett Goodman are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church, with Bro. Tim Post, Bro. Dennis Hackler, and Bro. Phillip McCready officiating.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, December 13, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, at Goldens.  

Mrs. Goodman, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at the age of eighty-two.  She was a long-time member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church, where she served her Lord faithfully in many capacities.  She loved her church dearly and taught Sunday School for many years.  Her family was her heart and soul.  She was a devoted wife and mother and was totally devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their happiness.  She was also a retired teacher with the Morehouse Parish School system.

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Jerry Goodman, daughter, Lisa Gale Mixon, parents, Frank and Tildy Tackett; sisters, Myrtle Tackett, Margaret Tackett, and Irene Tate; and brother, Walter Tackett.

Survivors include son-in-law, Jim Mixon; grandsons, Dusty Deere and wife Kelsea, Timmy Deere and wife Sydney; great granddaughters, Addison R. Deere, Madeline Grace Deere, Addison R. Harrell, and Alisa Kate Deere; and siblings, Billie Kimball, John Tackett and wife Ann, Earl "Pot" Tackett, and wife Sonja.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rickey Tackett, Mitchell Tackett, Ross Girtman, Gary Kimball, Kevin Tackett, and Steve Spainhower. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Tackett, Beau Deblieux, and Bill Sanders.
