Mr. Gillpatrick was born on April 6, 1932 to Mrs. Martha Pauline (McAdams) Gillpatrick and Mr. David Homer Gillpatrick, in a cabin on the Salido Creek outside Pleasant Plains, AR, and passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019, in West Monroe, LA. He was the third of three sons and his mother so wanted a girl that she was sure this third child would be a girl. (Hence the name Princess Pat...Taken from a can of “Princess Pat” talcum powder.” He was destined to be Princess Pat. Mrs. Pauline had two more children after Princess; Both boys! After meeting Mrs. Dolly (Delores “Dolly” A. Hurt) in 1951 while on their senior trip to Rockaway Beach, MO, he knew he had found the love of his life. They were married in 1952 and later that same year he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving eighteen months in Korea. Upon return to the U.S. Mr. Pat and Mrs. Dolly made their home in Kennett, MO. In 1971, they moved their family to Bastrop, LA, for work at the new Louisiana Cotton Warehouse in Mer Rouge, LA. Over the years Mr. Gillpatrick was a warehouse man in the cotton compress business, a business owner and entrepreneur (founding Gillpatrick Brokerage, Inc. In 1974) and later in 1979 founding the Bastrop Boot Center. In years to come, Mr. Gillpatrick started and operated five other businesses, three of which he owned. As a young man, Mr. Gillpatrick was a very good baseball player and could have caught major league ball if not for a shoulder injury while playing Army ball. His second love of ball was basketball and later golf. Mr. Gillpatrick had many hobbies over the years. Mostly buying, selling, and collecting firstly classic and antique cars and trucks, then boats, and later campers. He loved to horsetrade and never met a stranger. He was a lover of life and people. Mr. Gillpatrick was a lifetime member of Kennett, MO Masonic Lodge #68 earning his 32nd degree pin in 2003. He never passed by anyone needing his help. His first love was always God, with his action speaking for him and Mrs. Dolly and family second, and country third. His priority was always providing for his family. Mr. Gillpatrick is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. David Homer and Mrs. Martha Pauline (McAdams) Gillpatrick; mother and father-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. C.H.
