Valerie Megan Hill was born on February 3, 1987 in West Monroe, LA and departed this life at the age of 32 on January 18, 2020. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Corley Elisabeth Brackin of West Monroe and her paternal grandparents, Carroll O. and Marilyn C. Hill and uncle Richard Hill, all of Bastrop. She is survived by her parents, John and Terry Hill, brother and sister-in-law Jeremy and Ashley Hill, nieces Elliott and Maeson Hill and nephew Brant Hill and maternal grandparents Ella and Lavelle Vining and Jessie and James Pearson, all of Bastrop. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and “like family” friends. After graduating high school Valerie obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in English from the University of Louisiana-Monroe. While at ULM she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and served a term as Treasurer. She also served a term on the Campus Activities Board. She was a member of North Church-Bastrop. Valerie had a love for photography and enjoyed spending time outdoors taking pictures of both God’s and man’s creations. She also enjoyed collecting vintage items and re-purposing them into new and different creations. Her greatest talent and the one she took the most pride in was being a loving mother to her daughter, Corley Elisabeth. Valerie was loved by and will be missed by many. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 22 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Golden’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. at North Church-Bastrop, 358 Holt St, Bastrop, LA, with Bro. Steve Speer, Bro. Kevin Crimm, and Bro. Louis Bartet officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jonathan Hayes, Jake Johnson, Seth Norsworthy, Sammy Eldridge, Donny Tillman, and Bo Pepper.
