Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mary Gilbert Farrar are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 6, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Bro. Dennis Hackler will be officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 5, 2020, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Goldens. Mrs. Farrar, a long time resident of Bastrop, LA, and member of North Monroe Baptist Church, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020, at the age of ninety-four. She has been residing in Mer Rouge, LA, for the last eight years at Oakwoods Home for the Elderly. Mrs. Farrar is survived by her daughters, Gail McCormack and husband Jack of Bastrop, LA, Pam Turner and husband Dan of Mer Rouge, LA; son, Dwayne Farrar and wife Wanda of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jeff Farrar and wife Kim, Scott Farrar and wife Christy, Doug Farrar and wife Tina, Tammy McCormack and husband Steven, Amanda Greenwood and husband Bryan, Jessica Densmore and husband Jim, Matthew Turner and Leslie Spires; twelve great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Farrar; parents, Oliver and Ruby Gilbert; two sisters; six brothers; and special friend, Robert Quesada. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Greenwood, Robert Johnson, Jim Densmore, Shane Vocker, Matthew Turner, and Doug Farrar. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Lowery, Ranny Reynolds, Mike Bush, Bobby King, Randy Stroder, Sedric Johnson and Alan Miles. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Oakwoods Nursing Home and the entire staff for taking such good care of our sweet momma for eight years. Thank you to a very “Special Nurse” who loved and took care of her, Turkastle Grant. We love you so much!
