Obituary of Charles Leroy Whitaker

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Charles Leroy Whitaker are scheduled for 1 PM Monday, March 23, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Revs. Lisa Mayo and Johnny Baker officiating. Mr. Whitaker, a member of First United Methodist Church, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the age of eighty-seven. He was an animal lover and contributed to many organizations that benefitted animals. Mr. Whitaker loved watching football, especially the New Orleans Saints and L.S.U. He is survived by his daughter, Kay Whitaker Lamberton and husband Michael; sons, Kelly Gray Whitaker and wife Karen Graichen-Whitaker, Charles Kenneth Whitaker and wife Lois; sister, Catherine Olivia Whitaker McCorquodale; grandchildren, Natalie Ruth Lamberton, Lauren Nicole Whitaker, Chelsea Marie Austin Jackson, Megan Marie Keffer, Matthew Lamar Miller, Charles Greye Whitaker, Hannah Ruth Whitaker Braden; great grandchildren, Jordyn Whitaker, Elyanna Keffer, Brock Jackson, Eloise Jackson, Quinn Jackson, Kamille Maerie Miller, Gavin Lamar Miller, Sophia Grace Thompson-Whitaker, Hayden Alexander Stephens, Madelyn Harlow Braden; cousins, Nell Gardner, and Brenda Gardner. Mr. Whitaker is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Ruth Gray Whitaker; parents, Stella Lavern Whitaker and Jessie Logan Whitaker, Sr.; brother, Jessie Logan Whitaker, Jr.
