Obituary of Mary Kathryn "Kat" Jones Lutrick
Please share a memory of Mary Kathryn "Kat" Jones to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Kathryn Jones was born in Chalybeate, MS on December 4, 1939, to Clifford and Eva Eileen (Montgomery). She was the third of eight siblings. “Kat”, as she was called by most, was truly one of a kind! She lived life to the fullest, good times and bad, with joy and grief, happiness and heartache. Her family and friends would say she was a spark plug for every event, nicknamed “the Queen” and Commando Kat! She was full of talent, ready to sing and entertain as only she could do! Her quick wit and bold honesty would usually get her into trouble or have you on the floor laughing. Some of her best quotes will be used for years to come. Kat was also strong and determined, always rising above difficult times and challenges. She was loved and loved back with the same zeal that she lived her life. Her unconditional love was a true reflection of her character.
Kat and her husband Jerry Lutrick lived in Star, MS, for the last 25 years. They regularly attended Quest Community Church in Florence, MS. Their pool was often used for baptizing new members. Her pastor remarked that she was one of the kindest and most generous persons he had ever pastored. Their beautiful home was a gathering place for friends and family, especially the annual Labor Day celebration for her brothers birthdays, Randy and Rod Jones. Love and laughter always filled the house!
Kat died peacefully at the home of her son on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. With her passing, she leaves a huge void in our lives. She was such a big fan, cheerleader and encourager for all those that played sports. She would drive miles to attend games of children and grandchildren, usually the loudest voice in the stands. And did she love those grands!!! She said “Grandchildren are what makes us Grand “.
Kat’s faith grew as she studied God’s Word, knowing she was saved by that faith and the promise of Life Eternal. She was quick to forgive and to ask for forgiveness. She will be missed greatly but our memories will last forever. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Kat is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lutrick; parents, Clifford and Eileen Jones; brothers, Marion and Rodney Jones; grandson, Troy Tillotson; and granddaughter, Jaci Kay Lee. Survived by loved ones who grieve her loss but rejoice in heaven’s gain are her children, Lisa Crew, Anthony “Tony” Crew (Tammy), Tommie Kay Yeldell Collum (Jim); grandchildren, Derek Tillotson (Anna), Michael Crew (Larue), Jacob Crew, Lee Evans, Kris Lee, Anna Kathryn Yeldell, and Thomas Collum; great grandchildren, Payton Slay, Drake and Nicholas Tillotson, Caleb and Emma Crew, Molly Evans, and Swayze Lee; her siblings, Zack Bush (Bobby), Randy Jones (Patsy), Marty Jones (Kathy), Patricia Phillips (Mike), Linda Maddox, and Scotty Jones (Jan); and step-children, Butch and Becky Yeldell and Donna Lutrick Smith.
