Obituary of Burt Mattice

Private graveside services for Mr. Burt “Skip” Mattice, age seventy-five, will be held Monday, April 20, 2020 with Brother Allan Eppinette officiating. Mr. Mattice, a resident of Bastrop and retired from Morris Trucking after 22 years, passed away Friday, April 17, 2020. Mr. Mattice was a charter member of Harmony Baptist Church. Skip loved and adored his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved fishing, hunting, and driving a truck. Other hobbies include coaching his sons baseball teams, talking on CB radios, and building race cars. Mr. Mattice is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Geneva Mattice; daughters, Renee Canal and husband Buddy, Pam Forestier and husband Timmy, Kim Griffith and husband Anthony; sons, Ricky Mattice and wife Kimberly, Todd Mattice and wife Kim; daughter-in-law, Latrice Mattice, twenty grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren with one on the way. Mr. Mattice is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Mattice; a son, Gary Mattice; and a sister, Crystal Mattice. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Morris, Shane Copes, Larry Powell, and his honored grandsons. Memorial services for Mr. Mattice will be held at Harmony Baptist Church at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
