Private graveside funeral services for Mr. Samuel Hardie Eldridge, Sr will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bernice, LA with Bro. Tim Post officiating.
Mr. Eldridge, a retiree from L P & L after forty-six years of service, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the age of eighty-five. He was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church where he was ordained and served as the only deacon for many years. Mr. Eldridge loved to rabbit hunt, running dogs, NASCAR, football and boxing. But his real joy was helping others and working.
He is survived by daughters; Sandy Melton and husband Jimmy, Sarah Woodson, Jennifer Linder and husband Dan; sons, Sammy Eldridge and wife Cindy, Tommy Eldridge and wife Carol; sisters-in-law, Peggy Craighead and husband Jimmy, Brenda Doran; brother-in-law, Buddy Owens and wife Bertha; grandchildren, Laura Pruitt and husband Michael, Melanie Roose and husband Robert, Riley Melton, Niki Campanale and husband Tony, Trey Eldridge and wife Amanda, Tyler Eldridge and wife Lynnette, Jeremy Eldridge and wife Natalie, Daniel Woodson and wife Leesa, Emily Doyon and husband Frank, Leslie Turnbow and husband Casey, Luke Linder; twenty great grandchildren; and one on the way.
Mr. Eldridge is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Doris
Owens Eldridge; parents, Thomas S. Eldridge and Lena E. Eldridge and twelve siblings.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Trey Eldridge, Daniel Woodson, Tyler Eldridge, Jeremy Eldridge, Riley Melton and Luke Linder.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Carter Cox for being their loved ones family physician, nephew and best friend.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church at a later date.
