Obituary of Mary Helen Justus

A private graveside service for Mrs. Mary Helen Harris Justus, age 90, of Bastrop, LA will be conducted by Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Justus passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at LeGrand Health Care. She is a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church, was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and caring for babies. She also worked as a telephone operator. Mrs. Justus is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Dew, Kathy Kinnaird and husband Bruce, Ellen Maxwell and husband Gene; three sons, Timothy W. Justus and wife Mernet, James C. Justus and wife Carol, Barry J. Justus and wife Kellie; sister, Barbara Smith of New Orleans, LA; thirteen grandchildren, Mary Ann Songer, Wayne Dew, Jr., Darren Justus, Rob Justus, Benjamin Wallace, Emily Snyder, Trey Maxwell, Michael Maxwell, Tommy Maxwell, Molly McConnell, Brandon Justus, Gregory Justus, Ashley Justus; twenty-four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Clay “Cooter” Justus; an infant son; great grandson, Micah Brant Dew; parents, O.B. Harris, Sr. and Vera Mae Griffis Harris; brothers, O.B. Harris, Jr., James Donald Harris and son-in-law, Wayne Dew. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Missionary Baptist Church Missions Fund. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to LeGrand Healthcare and the Alzheimer Unit.
