Some of the best sermons I've ever heard were held in Brother Paul and Mrs. Audie's home in Rocky Branch many years ago. He was an amazing preacher and friend.

I can still hear his voice (and laugh) in my head. "Ronnie, how big a fish you want to catch today? You want a small one, middle one or a great big one?" At the age of 20 years old, this man touched my life in ways that no one ever has. He was the strongest man I ever met and could make the biggest of us sink to our knees with his grip from so many years handling hook nets with so many pounds of fish within them. You had to admire him and what he was able to accomplish on the bayou, on the river, and in the pulpit. He asked me to lead music and sing in many revivals around the area of North Louisiana and South Arkansas. I think I went because I just wanted to be around him and hope that the sometimes hour and a half long drives might reproduce yet another conversation that would make me think... and ponder. It's probably been 40 years since I've seen him, and every year I go home to Louisiana, he's one of the many I wish I had time to visit with. I regret not making time to go and visit with him, but I know I'll see him again one day and he'll come and grab my hand and put me on my knees yet again...in one way or another. "Thank you for giving to the Lord [Brother Paul], I am a life, that was changed....and I am so glad you gave!" Dr. Ronnie Pace

I have heard many preachers preach through the years, but none compared to Bro. Paul Carter. He lived what he preached. The first time he came to our home with Orville Noble to visit, he made himself right at home. I had cooked hamburgers and I didn’t have to ask them but once to sit down and eat. He was truly a man of God. Miss Audie I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I am so thankful to be one of the seven thousand professions of faith. In the early 1970’s Bro.Paul was our revival evangelist at Antioch. He and my pastor Bro. Cutrer came to our home and knelt by my bed and witnessed to me. I didn’t just get saved, in the words of Bro. Paul I got “Borned Again.” He was a relentless witness for Christ and we were so blessed later on to have Bro.Paul come pastor at Antioch. Bro.Paul could also be a little mischievous. I’ll never forget how he decorated the baptistery with cattails ,to look like the banks of the “Louder” when he baptized Peter. Mrs.Audie and family we love you and thank you for sharing “Preach” with us for all these years. We are praying that God’s love, grace and your many precious memories will comfort you in the coming days. My heart is broken but I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. “Well Amen” my pastor and dear friend. Love the Branch Bunch ,Debbie,Peter and family

I was 14 years old when I walked into the country store at Rocky Branch and first met Paul Carter. That was almost 50 years ago. While never my pastor, I heard him preach dozens of times over the years & was always blessed. Like all who knew him, he’s always had a story to tell about me when I was younger. Preach was the kind of person that when you seen him anywhere, your immediate reaction was to smile & feel joy. My prayers go out to Ms Audie & the family. He was a great & mighty man of God.

Brother Paul had a friendly competition with my Daddy fishing in the bayou behind our houses. He preached Daddy’s funeral and was a blessing to both of my parents. My mother loved to talk with Bro. Paul about the Bible and what it says. Anytime I saw him there was always something said to make you laugh. I know he and Daddy are talking about fishing again now. Becky Malone Moak

Preach was such a special man! Not many people would start a church in their home with the service in the living room and kids having Sunday School in their bedrooms or outside under a tree but this man and his wonderful wife knew if that was what God wanted they were willing to obey. A few weeks ago a tree at Rocky Branch Baptist church blew down. Bro Paul stopped by and said before the church was built he spent all night under that tree praying. Our church has always been blessed and I think a lot of the blessings were because of Bro. Paul's praying for it. We loved him and he will definitely be missed. My prayers are with Mrs. Audie, the boys and their families.

I do not remember when I met Bro. Paul. I think everybody just always knew him and loved him. And he loved everybody – kind of like Jesus does. Many stories could be written about him but I’ll just tell you one. In 1967, my little nephew was very sick - in the hospital in Houston. My mother and daddy, his grandparents, could not go but knowing that Paul Carter’s prayers could reach the throne of God, they sent him and me to be with my brother and his wife. Not too long after leaving the airport I knew something was wrong – we were flying through a bad STORM. Bro. Paul must have known I was afraid. He said Bonnie, “I think I know the answer, but I need to ask, do you know the Lord Jesus as your Savior?” I answered “Yes, Bro. Paul, I do.” His answer was, “Well then, we do not have to worry about this storm.” That is who he was, ALWAYS thinking about your relationship with our Lord!! I love you Ms. Audie and family. I will be thinking about you and praying for you in the difficult months ahead.

I grew up with Bro. Paul as my pastor. He led me to the Lord at the age of 8, and he helped me understand what a real relationship with God was like. He was supportive and understanding, and would pray for me even as a child when I go down to the altar and ask him to......I loved him dearly and Jesus shined brightly in him. I would not be where I am today and have a relationship with God of it wasn't for him obeying the Holy Spirit and leading me to Christ. I am so sad I won't get to hug him again, but one day I will when I see him with God in all his glory. Prayers for all his family.

We love Brother Paul so much. I wish I could be there to hug Mrs. Audie and the rest of the family during this time. He has been such an inspiration to me since coming to Conway. Because of his encouragement and inspiration of the Lord our little church has really grown, expanding the children’s ministry and starting the Passion Play which was such a joy to me to lead and be a part of. I have seen two more preacher boys take flight under his encouragement from our church. We are blessed to have Brother Will to stand in the gap for us now during this time. He helped in leading both of my children to Christ and baptism. I am so glad that the last time I talked to him was him telling me that he loved us and that we are gonna be just fine. Can’t wait to see him on the other side. Such a sweet man of God. Love and prayers to all of his family.

I don’t have the words to convey what this wonderful Christian brother means to me and my family. If I were speaking to Bro Paul at this moment, I’d simply say “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

Where do I begin , words could never truly express what this man meant in my life . From the first day I met him and he brought a chainsaw over to help me expand a opening in my door to put in French doors , that are still in today 30 years later . Preach was 1 in a million, he had such a great influence on my life and my family. He helped to guide me in my early years to overcome things that I myself couldn’t control, I know I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for his guidance and prayers he prayed for me . He knew how to bring out the competitive spirit in me as well , and he always came out on top . I will forever be grateful for the 30 years I had here with him on this earth as a mentor . While my ❤️ is broken in his absence here today , I can rejoice in knowing that Heaven is a sweeter place today because of his presence. Thank you Preach , I look forward to the day we meet again. Praying for Mrs. Audie and family , that God will comfort them during this time of loss .

Preach was one in a million. A servant of God, husband, father, pastor, neighbor, my other Papaw and FRIEND. I’m flooded with sweet memories of living down Bayou Acres Drive and all the fun that came with it. Saturday morning basketball (his famous hook shot), the smell of molded cheese, speaking in tongues, his magic tooth (really his partial but we all thought it was magic), front porch sitting and all the Boudreaux/Thibodeaux stories. He led me to the Lord at the age of 8 in my living room. I still have the green Bible that he wrote Born Again in and the date. Even though our hearts are breaking, Heaven is having one huge revival. This man has done so much for the Kingdom. And you know he entered with his famous words...”Well Amen”❤️ love you Preach

We had a lot of fun with Bro. Paul on our youth trips, even the one with all the flat tires. He made us eat shark and no telling what else, used us as measuring sticks to measure waves in the gulf. He hung right there with us shooting bottle rockets on New Years eve. More importantly; he played with us, laughed with us, prayed with us and for us and taught me so much. He is having the ultimate homecoming celebration. Prayers for all of his loved ones as you learn to live here without him.

There aren’t words to express how grateful I am for the ministry of Bro. Paul Carter. We shared many memories together, and this picture is of one of our greatest moments. He and l had the privilege to baptize a teenage girl and her grandfather simultaneously as they had both been saved the same week. He was a blessing to many. He will he missed. As one of his beloved “preacher boys” I just pray we all can carry out our ministries in a manner that is worthy of his investment. See you soon, Preach. We love you! Praying for Sister Audie and their wonderful family. God bless!
