Kelly loved his familydearly. Everything he did in life was for his family. His two most favorite names in the world were Dad and Poppa G. Kelly’s passing will create a void that can only be filled by the memories he shared in making with each and every one of us. Kelly loved riding the open road on his Harley Davidson and had many great adventures while doing so.
Kelly worked for the last six years in the Texas panhandle where he and Cheryl made a home in the little town of Canadian, Texas. While there, he met many friends that grew to be a second family to both of them. The desire to be near his family recently led him back to Louisiana where he proudly rejoined his longtime employer, Central Oil and Supply as a fuel hauler.
Kelly served in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge as an Aviation Ordnanceman Petty Officer 2nd Class E-5. He served his carrier flight deck duty in the weapons division aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. Commendations he received included pistol and rifle expert, sea service, overseas service and battle excellence.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Cheryl Delamar Smith; son, Cody Delamar Smith and wife Sara; grandson, Sawyer Reed Smith; parents, Jimmy and Louise Smith; brothers, David A. Smith and wife Autumn, Jimbo Smith and wife Lisa; mother-in-law, Eddie Marie Delamar; nieces and nephews, Ashley Bankston and husband Jason, Jessica Stewart, Nick Smith, Jacob Smith, Jackson Stewart, Olivia K. Bankston, Ridge O. Bankston, Jessica Croswell, Lanee Croswell, best friend and brother, Ricky Bearden; uncle, Grady H. Wilson and many cousins and close friends.
