I will miss this funny, loving man. As far back as I can remember, he made regular trips to visit with my Daddy and Mother, David & Marie DelRio, until their homegoing. I know they are sharing some stories now. Johnny has always been an admirer of mine. I always appreciated the sweet words he spoke. I know they came from an honest heart. I will see you soon riding on a horse.

You better be waiting on me up there Johnny. Don't make me have to track you down because you know I can. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and for all the outstanding dancing we did. I really enjoyed when y'all rented that acreage out on Miss Miller's place. I guess you had to give up trying to steal her hogs. Lol. I really enjoyed hearing you laugh Johnny. You were friendly to everybody and you were never a snob. You were one of a kind and there's nobody in that area that can take your place. Take good care of my heart because you took it with you and have a lot of laughter saved up so when I get there you can entertain me. You will be missed but you're no longer in pain. God bless you and I love you, Betty Jane Kilcrease Hughes.

Several years ago, Johnny decided he wanted to write his life story. He asked me to write it for him. We met daily for several months, him recalling and me typing. Sadness and humor intermingled.
The working title was A Country Boy.
We both got sidetracked and it wasn't completed..
Now it is, and it breaks my heart. Johnny was such a good friend.

Uncle Johnny will never be forgotten. I remember him for his smile, booming voice and gentle laugh. Uncle Johnny for me will be remembered as the man in black. To this day he still called me Bobby Ray. I love my Uncle Johnny and hope to see him again.
