Obituary of George Don Nealy

Funeral services for Mr. George Don Nealy, age 73, will be held at 2 PM Sunday, August 23, 2020 at East Haven Church of God with Pastor Dustin Townsend and Brother Todd Mattice officiating. Interment will follow in Hughes Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Nealy, a resident of Bastrop and retired from the Morehouse Parish Highway Department, passed away at his residence Thursday, August 20, 2020. Mr. Nealy is a member of East Haven Church of God. He loved gardening, running dogs, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed riding around with Bea, and was one who loved picking on his family and friends. Mr. Nealy is survived by his wife, Bea Nealy; two sisters, Geneva Mattice of Bastrop, LA, Jean Weddle of Bastrop, LA; one brother, Mike Nealy of Bastrop, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. Mr. Nealy is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Hightower and George Nealy; sister, Maxine Brown; brother-in-laws, Skip Mattice, Paul Weddle, Luther Brown; and nephew, Gary Mattice. Serving as pallbearers will be Floyd Michael Scroggins, Tommy Scroggins, Paul David Weddle, Jr., Todd Mattice, Anthony Griffith, and Ronald Scroggins. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 PM until 2 PM at the church.
