I’m so sorry I’ve missed this beautiful soul and an opportunity to reconnect with her. I’ve been searching for about a month now to find this today. Doug I was married to Butch Smith Bastrop PD we’ve been divorced for years now. I went to nursing school with Diane and I’ve such fond memories of her and that funny personality. So hate I missed reconnecting with her. Heaven has gained an angel and we lost a little heaven on earth. Love you girl safe journey into Gods loving arms.

Doug, I am so sorry to hear about Diane's passing. I have such wonderful memories growing up on Eastwood Drive. Diane was always so protective of you and loved you dearly. Memories of playing ball, climbing trees, cooking out in your back yard and so many more. I think I knew at an early age that Diane would be a nurse because she took such care of Gene and the rest of you. When my mother was in the hospital she would visit her after her shift was over and they would have long talks. God's blessings on you and your family at this time.

This became a laugh between every time we ran into each other, it started over 30 years ago when I was working in a nursing home and taking care of one of her brothers. It had to do with me being on a diet and her catching me at Sonic eating something sweet. Lol. Diane, I'm going to enjoy a hot fudge cake Sunday just for you. RIP!

Diane was a wonderful person and exceptional nurse. She and I went to school together, and back in the day she was a "hoot" to be around. She was such a good-hearted person, who always thought of others first. She was a dear friend and will be missed. My deepest sympathy to her family. She was "one of a kind."

Our sweet Diane where in the world do I start? She has taken care of family & friends all of her life & I really think that was her life's calling. She never put herself first. That's just the way Diane lived her life always. It's hard to even begin to count the jewels in her crown for all of the good that she has done. She is & was so loved & will be missed by so many people. Be safe our dear cousin now you have joined your Mama, Daddy & Gene & your free of all pain! Go rest high on that mountain we love you so very much & you will forever be in our hearts.Doug & family our thoughts & prayers are with all of you.

Diane was such an incredible person with such a bright light that had outshined the pain her earthly body endured. The last time I saw her was not too long after this last surgery and she still had that wonderful smile especially after I told her Freddie was back in my life. Thoughts and prayers are with the family and Gene is walking with her in Heaven and Angels are singing.
From Freddie : I’ve never met a kinder more genuine and gentle and honest heart that Diane. She has been a true child of God and she was always our family. God’s Blessings to the family.

Family, may God give you comfort. She was my friend and coworker at MGH . She devoted her life as a caregiver to her family and her patients .She has suffered so much. She often called me for prayers of healing. The last time I talked with her, she was so contented because she came to know Jesus in a very special way. Diane l am looking forward to seeing you in heaven. Patsy Smart

My heart is heavy in the loss of my sweet friend. Diane had the kindest heart, loved with all her being and would give the shirt off her back to help anyone in need. She did not possess enough words to express her love for her family...Douglas, Jackie, Michelle, Matthew, Matthes, Chris, Kristal, Cole and Kaden. She spoke of each of you in the most admirable, loving way. You were her world! I know Diane is no longer suffering and for that I am thankful, but I am going to miss her as I am sure you all will. May she Rest In Peace.
