Obituary of Hazel McBroom Avant

Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel McBroom Avant, age 86, are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Golden Funeral Home with Bro. John Cowling officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until 2 PM, service time Sunday. Mrs. Avant, a resident of Bossier formerly of Bastrop, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020. She was born and raised in Bastrop and lived in Ashdown, AR from 1966 until 1990. She is a former member of First Baptist Ashdown and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She loved her grandkids and was mother hen to all of the extended family. One of her favorite activities was traveling with her grandkids in their motor home. She is survived by her son, Cliff Avant and wife Grace; brothers, Lavon McBroom, Jimmy Brodnax and wife Elaine; grandchildren, Lara McKaskle and Kala Gates; great grandchildren, Tait McKaskle, Skylar McKaskle, Kinsly Gates and Jace Gates. Mrs. Avant is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Avant; parents, Brady McBroom and Vivian Brodnax and sister-in-law, Margaret McBroom. Serving as pallbearers will be, Cole McKaskle, Eric Gates, Dakota Shipman, Shane Leggett, Chad Leggett, and Howard McBroom,Jr. Tait McKaskle will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
