Graveside funeral services for Mr. John T. Murphree, Jr., age 86, are scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Parkdale Cemetery, Parkdale, AR. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 28 from 12:30 PM until 1 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Murphree, formerly of Bastrop, LA, Hot Springs, AR, and current resident of Sterlington, LA, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020. He served in the United States Army in Japan as a Corporal of the 29th AAA Battery 1st Cavalry Division during the Korean War from July 1954 to 1956. He graduated from Wilmot High School and received a business degree from Arkansas A&M. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters, Kim Nelson Henderson and husband Brad of Sterlington, LA, Karan Easterling and husband Rich of Siloam Springs, AR, Connie Murphree and Vikki Richerson of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren, Jonathan Nelson, Jennifer Nelson, Jessica Nelson, Adam Easterling and Aaron Easterling; niece, Cathy Yeldell and husband James.
Mr. Murphree is preceded in death by his parents, John T. Sr., and Essie Stone Murphree; sisters, Hazel Murphree Chance and Betty Lee Murphree; brother-in-law, Lee Roy Chance, Jr.; son-in-law, Philip Bruce Nelson.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Jonathan Nelson, Jennifer Nelson, Jessica Nelson, Adam Easterling and Aaron Easterling. Honorary pallbearer will be Ralph Sewell.
