Obituary of Katharyn "Dooley" Lilly

Funeral services for Katharyn “Dooley” Lilly, 93, are scheduled for 11 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Lilly officiating. Interment will follow in Beekman Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, December 21, 2020, from 5 PM - 7 PM at Goldens. Mrs. Lilly, a resident of Bastrop, LA, and active member of Bethany Church of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the age of ninety-three. Over the years, Mrs. Lilly has made a huge impact on her community by making regular donations to the Life Blood Share Centers. She worked the election polls every election year and was known by her family as the best cook in all of Morehouse Parish. Mrs. Lilly is survived by her daughter, Penny Murphy of Bastrop, LA; son, Harry Lilly and wife Pam of Farmerville, LA; grandchildren, Jonette Gray and husband Barry, Karen Laing, Karla Floyd and husband Scott, Neal Elton, Brent Elton and wife Veronica, Dustin Lilly and wife Brooke, Jenny Wills and husband Chris, Harrison Lilly and wife Christina, Jake Lilly, Michael Lilly; twenty-two great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Joe Laing; and special nieces, Bunny Langston, JoAnn Norsworthy. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Caring Hands Hospice and staff along with her personal sitters. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil H. Lilly, Jr.; parents, Luther and Mary Day; daughter, Kathy Laing; granddaughter, Leslie Smith; three brothers and two sisters. Serving as pallbearers will be Neal Elton, Brent Elton, Dustin Lilly, Harrison Lilly, Jake Lilly, and Michael Lilly. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Gray, Logan Smith, Cameron Smith, and Coby Laing.
