Obituary of Henry "Buzz" Sawyer

Graveside services for Henry “Buzz” Sawyer, age 64, of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Tillou Baptist Cemetery with Bros. Doug Edwards and Tim Post officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bethel Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Sawyer, a retired employee of AT&T, and member of Bethel Baptist Church, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was a loving husband, a good son, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and good conversation with family and friends. He also loved his Lord and enjoyed serving alongside his wife in the church. Mr. Sawyer is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mabel “Pudney” Sawyer; mother, Dollie Sawyer; daughter, Melissa Brown and husband Daniel; brothers, Rickey Sawyer, James “Jim” Sawyer; grandchildren, Ted Brown, Justin Sawyer and wife Miranda; great-grandchildren, Lillian Grace Sawyer, Emma Claire Sawyer and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Newton Bussie Sawyer. Serving as pallbearers are: Kayne Coody, Ray Wilkerson, Jason Rea, Michael Bulloch, Shelby Gregory and Toby Gregory. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dennis Gregory, Al Rea and Craig Rea.
