Obituary of Genevieve "GV" Hopkins

Funeral services for Mrs. Genevieve “GV” Hopkins are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, January 29, 2021, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Bro. James Moffett officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday from 1 PM until 2 PM service time at the church. Mrs. Hopkins, a resident of Bastrop, LA and member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at the age of ninety-two. She was a loving Mother, Mamaw, and Maw who loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Hopkins volunteered many years as an Auxiliary “Pink Lady” at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. She is survived by her husband of seventy-four years, W.L. Hopkins; sons, Jimmy Hopkins and wife Paula, Rodney Hopkins and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Derek Hopkins and wife Shannon, Summer Turner and husband Brad, Stefanie Ingram and husband Micah, Ryan Hopkins and wife Lorrie; great-grandchildren, Landen Hopkins, Baylee Hunt, Preston Ingram, Jocelyn Ingram, Aurora Ingram; and sister, Barbara Robinson and husband Eugene. Mrs. Hopkins is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Nellie Polk; brothers, Walter and Dean Polk; sister, Bernice Mayo; and grandson, Chad Hopkins. Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Polk, Danny DeBlieux, Roger Jones, Todd Williams, Derek Hopkins, Ryan Hopkins, Brad Turner and Micah Ingram.
