Obituary of Jack Allen Rainbolt

Funeral services for Mr. Jack Allen Rainbolt are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, April 2, 2021, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held Thursday, April 1, 2021, from 5 PM - 7 PM at Goldens. Jack Allen Rainbolt, 76, of Rayville, LA, formerly of Bastrop, LA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, after fighting a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Jack was born June 6th in Bastrop, LA, to Allen and Georgia Rainbolt. After graduating Bastrop High, he enlisted in the Army of the United States. After being honorably discharged on July 30, 1965, in enlisted in the United States Navy on June 31, 1965 until he was honorably discharged June 21, 1967, but would remain in the U.S. Naval Reserve until May 22, 1969. Jack was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Bastrop. After his health started to fail, he watched services on television. He would spend many hours listening to gospel music. After getting out of the service, Jack worked for a couple of local businesses until 1968, when he joined the International Paper Company family. He worked there for 32 years and took early retirement due to his health. Jack loved being outside and keeping up the yard. He was known in the neighborhood for not letting a limb or leaf be on the ground for more than one day. He loved fishing and camping but sports was always his first love. This included being a baseball coach from the time his son could hold the bat till he was in junior high. He watched his grandson play baseball then his great grandson play football. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Georgia (Baskin) Rainbolt; step-mother, Ila Rainbolt; beloved wife of fifty-three years, Jeanie Fay Rainbolt; sister, Alice Rainbolt; two brothers, William David and Gary Rainbolt; sister-in-law, Teresa Rainbolt; brother-in-law, Curtis Matlock; father and mother-in-law, Genie and Lucille Dopson. Leaving three children, Janet Hammons, Connie Bulloch and husband Michael, Arnold Lowther and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Brandon Bulloch and wife Mary Kay, Michael John Bulloch, Jessica Hilliard and husband James, William Lowther and wife Cathryn, Kelsey Lowther and Joshua Hammons; great-grandchildren, Cole Bulloch, Joby Clark, Ja’Michael Hilliard, Cheyenne Lowther, Whtiley Lowther who shares a birthday with ppaw, Clara Lowther, Jeremiah Hilliard and Willa Fay Lowther; sister, Mattie Matlock; brother, Ernest Rainbolt and wife Joyce; four sisters-in-law, Wanda Rainbolt, Kathleen Cupples, Shelba McGee and Connie Diaz; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friend and neighbor, Teresa Youngblood. Also a neighbor who was like a son, Todd Shipman, AKA Tatar Todd (dad nicknamed him at birth). The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Cory Albritton for being there anytime we needed him. And the family is forever grateful to Monica G Odom and the staff of Crossroads Hospice. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Bulloch, William Lowther, Jimmy Matlock, Donnie Paxton, Brian Rainbolt, and Ricky Rainbolt. Honorary pallbearers are Michael John Bulloch, Joshua Hammons, Cole Bulloch, Joby Clark, JaMichael Hilliard, Todd Rainbolt, and Doug Rainbolt.
