Obituary of George P. Winnon

Funeral services for Mr. George P. Winnon are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Gambill officiating. Mr. Winnon passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the age of eighty-four. He was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church. He also served as a Gideon. Mr. Winnon loved his grand children and great grandchildren, traveling, square dancing, visiting and helping anyone who needed help. He was retired from International Paper Company and a lifelong member of IBEW. Mr. Winnon was also involved in mission work, going to Belize twice and Maine once. He is survived by his wife, Joan Winnon; children, Jacque Winnon Burchfield, Kelly Winnon, Jeff Winnon, Jeff Wilmore, Jackie Wilmore, Jarred Wilmore; siblings, Mae Mardis, Lillian Atkins; grandchildren, Brannon Smith, Holly Blom, Caroline Hughes, Haleigh Hatley, Clay Thomas Winnon, Lindzay Wilmore, Emily Anthony, Jourdan Ford, Morgan Eppinette, Drake Wilmore; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved dog, Buddy. Mr. Winnon is preceded in death by his parents, W.T. and Willie Winnon; siblings, Otis, Troy, Jessie, Steve and Rachel. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Brannon Smith, Clay Thomas Winnon, Brayden Spigner, Troy Bryan, Brian Eppinette and Drake Wilmore. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 12 noon until 2 PM, with the service following visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to First Baptist Church at 620 E. Madison Ave., Bastrop, LA 71220.
