Funeral services for Mr. James Newton Hammon are scheduled for 11 AM Friday, June 18, 2021 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Danny Merriweather and special friend, John Burcham officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery (Berlin Rd) Hamburg, AR.
Mr. Hammon, of Hamburg, AR, formerly of Bastrop, LA, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at the age of sixty-eight. Mr. Hammon was a man of many talents. He had an Electronics degree, he was an Electrician and had worked all over the United States. Mr. Hammon was a talented musician, learning to play the guitar at a very young age, playing by ear, he learned to play the drums, the harmonica and the piano. He was a member of the Road Barrons Motorcycle Club-N. Little Rock Mother Chapter, he loved to ride his Harley with his friends also participating in many charitable events during his time as a Road Barron. Mr. Hammon’s love for animals was also something he enjoyed very much. He loved riding horses, going on many trail rides with his buddies and camping along the way. Another love of his was fishing. You could always find him just north of the Saline River kicked back enjoying life. Mr. Hammon loved to plant a garden, a huge garden. It would always be more than he could pick. Most of all, he loved his family very much. They were his life, his blood and his most prized possessions.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Pamela Gay Barnett Hammon of Hamburg, AR; daughter, Anna Christine “Christy” Elizabeth Hammon Merriweather and husband Michael of Bastrop, LA; sister, Charlotte Brown and husband J.E.; four grandchildren, Dillon Goodwin, Ainslee Little, Morgan and MaKenzie Merriweather; two step-sons, Chad McKee and wife Shawna (Children), and Shawn McKee and wife Winter (Children); three nieces, Amy Antley and husband Eric, Cassie Wuenshche and husband John, and Julie Hayes and husband Michael; nephew, Jay Brown; and a very special buddy, his dog, Stormy.
Mr. Hammon is preceded in death by his parents, E.W. and Anna Orene Hammon; and brother, William Edward Hammon.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be the Road Barron Motorcycle Club- N. Little Rock Mother Chapter.
Honorary pallbearers are Dillon Goodwin, Michael Merriweather, Dennis Blackard, Billy Montgomery, David Montgomery, Michael Wade, Larry Roberts, and Burt Campbell.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 5 PM - 8 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
