Visitation will be held Friday, July 9, from 5 PM until 7 PM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Monroe. Hollis Joe Holladay, 76, of Monroe, hung up his hat July 5, 2021. He was born in Arizona to Charles Worth and Bernice Dodge Holladay on June 13, 1945. Joe grew up in the idyllic ropin’ and ridin’ setting for an aspiring rodeo champion, and spoke often of his childhood adventures with the Navajo people. He launched his career in sales right out of high school, but later realized his dream when he joined the rodeo circuit. Once Joe got the bull out of his system, he settled down to raise his boys, Chase (Amber) and Shawn (Megan). While he loved the thrill of sales, and went back to it many times throughout his career, his life’s work was fulfilled after he moved to Louisiana to obtain his Master’s degree. “Doc” Holladay truly changed lives as a substance abuse counsellor. Thank God for cowboys. Mr. Holladay is preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters and one brother. Joe will be dearly missed by his family and friends including his wife, Glenda, his two boys, his four grandchildren, and his step-children and their families. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Stucki, Orum Young, Mark Smith, Chase Holladay and Shawn Holladay. Honorary pallbearers will be Parker Holladay, Christopher Holladay, Jason Fortune, Ashton Fortune, Brandon Fortune, Kamron Fortune and John Savage. Y’all come down and tip your hats to Joe as he rides off into the sunset.
