Funeral services for Mr. Ellis Ray “Hoot” Coleman, age 78, are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Allan Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow in Bonita Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5 PM until 7 PM at Goldens. Mr. Coleman, a resident of Bonita, LA, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam where he earned the good conduct medal, national defense service medal and expert rifle medal. Being an avid outdoorsman, he loved being in the woods at his hunting camp in Jones. He also loved hanging out with his friends and reminiscing about playing baseball when he was younger. He is survived by his brother, Fay Coleman of Bonita, LA; sisters-in-law, Clairie Coleman of Bastrop, Irma Coleman of Bastrop; a host of nieces and nephews and his friend and caretaker, Paul Johnston. Mr. Coleman is preceded in death by his parents, Eurie and Bertha Coleman; sister, Lula Mae Vines and husband Doug; brothers, Eurie Coleman, Jr. and wife Lucille, Hershey Coleman, John D. Coleman and Margie Hildabrandt; James Louis Coleman, Willie Lee Coleman and Donna Coleman, Herman Coleman, and Wayne “Chubby” Coleman and wife Jimmie. Serving as pallbearers will be DeWayne Hogan, Cody Hogan, David Hogan, Mark Coleman, Holden Coleman, Rodney Coleman and Nathan Tarver. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his nephews and great nephews.
