Funeral services for Mr. Robert Leon Mayberry, age 89, of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Mayberry was a member of Central Church of Christ and owned and operated Mayberry Trading Company and a trucking company. He bought and sold all of his life. He was married to the love of his life “Ruth” for 72 years. She was his whole world. He had a love for people and enjoyed talking and visiting with everyone. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Mayberry is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, C.L. Mayberry and wife Linda, R.L. Mayberry, Ruthie Tully and husband Tanny; sister, Carolyn Bish; brothers-in law, Robert Temple and Dick Clack; grandchildren, Brandon Tully, Angela Mayberry Lackey, Melissa Sliger, Elizabeth Purdy, Julia Ann Carroll, Carlie Mayberry, Shelby Mayberry, Anna Mayberry, Danielle Mayberry and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlie Andrew Mayberry and Edna Rodella Mayberry; siblings, Edna Marie Duplissey, Carlie Ray Mayberry and Shirley Temple.
