Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sue Thurlo Flowers are scheduled for 10 AM Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Hackler officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday, beginning at 9 AM. Mrs. Flowers, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021, at the age of eighty-seven. She was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church, where she was very active. Mrs. Flowers previously served as the secretary of Green Acres Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and traveling with her family. She is survived by her son, Cecil “Ray” Flowers, Jr. and wife Robbi of Slidell, LA; son-in-law, Jim Harkness of Bastrop, LA; sisters, Eddie Jean Thiele of Ft. Smith, AR, Patt Bond and husband Bill of Sherwood, AR, Wanda Lloyd of Benton, AR; grandchildren, Heather LeAnn Flowers Rice and husband Adam of Bastrop, LA , Robert Flowers and wife Stacey of Norman, OK, Blake Harkness and wife Megan of Monroe, LA, and Ryan Flowers of Slidell, LA; and two great grandchildren, Maddox Rice and Dylan Harkness. Mrs. Flowers is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ray Flowers, Sr.; daughter, Jan Thurlo Flowers Harkness; parents, Edward and Mamie Thurlo; grandparents, John Henry and Susie Anna Barnes Tubbs; and brothers-in-law, Tommy Lloyd and Don Thiele. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Ezell, Johnny Ezell, Robert Flowers, Ryan Flowers, Blake Harkness and Adam Rice. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Harkness and Bill Bond.
