Obituary of Penelope "Penny" Ivey

Mrs. Penelope “Penny” Ivey was born on October 8, 1947, and passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at the age of seventy-four. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 30, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Bastrop, LA. A second memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Westside Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA. Penny was a dedicated mother and treasured her times with her children. Embracing her role as Mamaw to her grandchildren was one her greatest joys she experienced. She had an infectious personality, never meeting a stranger. Her legacy was all about service to others, the outreach she chose in her Christian walk, devoting her time helping others through countless acts of kindness and selflessness. She was always available to help someone need no matter the distance or sacrifice. “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:2‬ ‭. Was her motto. She will be dearly missed by her family and countless friends she massed throughout her life. Penny is survived by her children, Jason Ivey (Christy), Teri Ivey, Christi Ivey (Wayne Cook); mother, Louise Lee; grandchildren, Scott Ivey (Christina), Jacob Ivey, James Ivey, Chloe Lindsey (Dewayne), Dakota Ivey (Michele), Cheyenne Henderson (Tristan), Gus Vickers, Skylar Gehring, April Chester (Tyler); thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Les Ivey; father, Leroy Lee, Sr.; brother, Leroy Lee, Jr; and sister, Sharon Waggner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Christmas Child or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
