Obituary of Milfred Carl Harper

Graveside funeral services for Milfred Carl "Mike" Harper are scheduled for 2 PM, Monday, November 1, 2021 at Causey Cemetery, with Bro. Richard Gambill officiating. Milfred Carl “Mike” Harper passed away October 29, 2021 at age 77. He was born on June 16, 1944, and raised in North Louisiana where he met and married his wife of 35 years, Sarah Harper. Even after they went their separate ways, they were good friends for the last 12 years and took care of one another. Mike was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked at International Paper Company in Bastrop for 36 years and retired from the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life such as hunting, fishing, golfing, gun repair, and riding horses. One of his most enjoyed hobbies was running the sound system at several churches for many years. However, he enjoyed talking and visiting most of all! He was a giving man who enjoyed being able to help people. Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Laura Bell Smith Harper, father, Milfred Carl Harper, Sr., sister, Mary Jo Oliver, and grandson, Owen Benjamin Loveday. He is survived by the mother of his children, Sarah Roseann Garrett Harper, three daughters, Tonja Read, Misty Loveday (Brandon), Windy Duckworth (Al), and grandchildren Thomas Read, Starla Read, Bradley Read, Garrison Loveday, Nolan Loveday, Alayna Duckworth, Arabella Duckworth, Easton Loveday, and one great-grandchild, Wyatt Hunter. He is also survived by two brothers, Jerry Harper (Sally), Bill Harper (Sandra), and two sisters, Peggy Day (James), and Glenda-Sue Bixler.
