Obituary of Dan Dodd

Funeral services for Dan Dodd are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Joey Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM. Mr. Dodd, a resident of Bastrop, LA, and member of New Life Church of God, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, at the age of eighty-six. Mr. Dodd served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, fishing, and hosting fish frys and cookouts for his family and friends. Mr. Dodd also loved his dog and best friend, Buddy. He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Ladonna Rookard Dodd; daughters, Kim Terrell of Monroe, LA, Kristi Dodd May and husband Gaylon of West Monroe, LA, Amber Dodd Wilkerson and husband Tab of Bastrop, LA; son, Troy Dodd and wife Glenda of Little Rock, AR; seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Dodd is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Dodd, Sr and Clara; sisters, Betty Sullivan, JoAnn Dodd; one daughter, Darlene Dodd Amos; and son-in-law, Scott Terrell. Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Land, Garrett May, Chase Dodd, Austin Rookard, Matt Rookard, Dustin Amos and Charlie Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Rookard, Jeff Carpenter and Steve Yarbrough. A special thank you to the staffs of Premier Hospice and St. Francis Hospital for the compassionate care of Mr. Dodd during the last few weeks.
