Funeral services for Betty Jo Goodwin are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 1st Assembly of God Church, with Bro. Dusty Walker, Bro. Maurice Lednicky, and Bro. Mike Cheshier officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Friday, January 14, 2022, at Golden Funeral Home from 5 PM - 7 PM. Mrs. Goodwin, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the age of eighty-eight. She was the oldest living founding member of 1st Assembly of God Church and was the organist for over fifty years. If the doors were open, she was there. Mrs. Goodwin was known for making quilts, cakes and pralines. She worked as a nurse at Drs. O.L. Tugwell, Michaud and Amoroso Clinic, and Dr. Betty Whitener’s Office in Mer Rouge. Mrs. Goodwin has always been a selfless person. Someone that everyone could count on. Mrs. Goodwin is survived by her husband of seventy-one years, Bobby A. Goodwin; children, Becky Isom and husband, Scott, Robby Goodwin and wife, Resa, and Kevin Goodwin and wife, Dawn; sister, Earline Brown; grandchildren, John Anderson and wife, Cheri, Jessica Sicking and husband, Aaron, Rikki Jones and husband, Dustin, Dillon Austin Goodwin, and Josh Goodwin; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Eli, Evan, Miley, and Maddox; She is preceded in death by her parents, Cookman and Robbie Degges; son, Gary Goodwin; siblings, Agnes Hopkins, Fulton Degges, Leon Degges, Irma Jean Degges, Leola Rice, and Lamar Degges. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Goodwin’s grandsons.
