Obituary of George Edward Stanley, Sr.

Funeral services for George Edward Stanley, Sr. will be held at 10 AM Monday, January 24, 2022, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, prior to the service, beginning at 9 AM. Mr. George E. Stanley Sr, 71, of Bastrop, Louisiana passed away Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, at St Francis hospital in Monroe, Louisiana. He spent many nights playing music with family and friends. Aside from picking a guitar and singing, he found joy in riding motorcycles. Along the years, he was blessed with a daughter and four sons. In March of 1989 he married his wife Martha and added a step-daughter and three step-sons to his life. He was a beloved husband, daddy, pawpaw, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all. Mr. Stanley is survived by his wife, Martha Mae Cherry Stanley; daughters, Tina Renee’ Stanley Warner and Sylvia Freeland; sons, George Edward Stanley, Jr., Logan Mathew Prine, Joshua Adam Stanley, Charles Ellis Brown, Joseph Craig Brown, and Mark Wayne Brown; sisters, Barbara Ann Kellebrew and Karen Elaine Dedman; brothers, Donald Eugene Stanley, David Ronald Stanley, and James Douglas Stanley; thirty-seven grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Ruth Stanley; father, George Elton Stanley; sister, Shirley Stanley Smith; and son, Seth Devin Stanley.
