Obituary of Charles "Tommy" Smith

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Charles “Tommy” Smith are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Pine Grove South Cemetery, with Bro. Phillip McCready and Bro. Britt Dupree officiating. Mr. Smith, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, at the age of eighty. He was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church where he was a member of the building and grounds committee and the sound technician until his health prevented his serving. He was happiest when he was serving the Lord at the church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose favorite hobby was fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Oather and Margaret L. Smith; son, Douglas Smith; step-son, Russell Green; and brother, James G. “Jim” Smith. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rials Smith; daughters, Anita Gandy, and husband Robbie and Lisa Cheramie; son, David Smith, and wife Martha; step-daughters, Jan Gentry, Jo Daugherty, and husband Jerry, and Leslie Jones, and husband Roger; and brother, Fred A. Smith, and wife Mary; along with six grandchildren and eleven step-grandchildren. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Matthew Gandy, Dylan Gandy, Colby Daugherty, Caleb Daugherty, Corey Williamson, and Conner Jones
